Scottish Legal Aid Board

Welcome to the Legal Aid (Scotland) Pension Scheme (LA(S)PS), the pension scheme for Scottish Legal Aid Board (SLAB) employees.

The SPPA carries out a calculation service for The Legal Aid (Scotland) Pension Scheme (LA(S)PS) on behalf of the Scottish Legal Aid Board

From 1st October 2010 the LA(S)PS will be split into 2 sections the pre October 2010 section for existing members and the Post October 2010 section for any new members. The scheme guides explain the main differences between the 2 sections

The LA(S)PS is by analogy to NHS Superannuation Scheme (Scotland) – (NHSSS(S)) This means that, while the LA(S)PS have a completely separate entity, their benefits are determined by applying the rules of the NHSSSS regulations. The new 2010 rules take the alternative and more efficient approach of directly stating the by analogy relationship, so that reference to the NHSSSS regulations is required to determine particular questions. There are few areas where the LA(S)PS rules and the NHSSSS regulations differ and these are specifically set out in the 2010 rules

If you require further information regarding your scheme benefits please contact a member of the LA(S)PS administration team.
